Daniel Bolon, PhD, professor of biochemistry & molecular pharmacology, studies drug resistance in cancer cells.

His lab at UMass Chan Medical School works to systematically quantify the impacts of mutations on protein function.

“I study drug resistance so that we can prevent cancer from taking people that we love too soon,” Dr. Bolon said. “Because cancer is common and deadly, most of us have lost someone that we would have dearly loved to spend more time with.”

Dear UMass Dartmouth Community,

We were all dismayed to learn that African American and Black students at UMass Amherst were subjected to vile, racist email messages last week. While these hateful acts did not target our campus, we are one UMass, and when individuals attempt to spread hate and division, we must come together.

UMass Dartmouth unequivocally condemns all forms of racism and identity-based harassment, and stands in solidarity with the Black community here on our campus, at UMass Amherst and at all our sister UMass campuses.
