First-Year Housing: On Campus
UMass Amherst’s first years participate in a Residential First-Year Experience to help students transition to college.
Athletics: NCAA Division 1 and intramural
UMass Amherst hosts 21 Division I teams and a variety of intramural and club sports.
Testing Reqs: SAT/ACT required
Applicants to UMass Amherst are required to submit either SAT or ACT scores.
UMass Boston

UMass Boston offers a no-test option for first-year applicants.
UMass Dartmouth
Location: Suburban
UMass Dartmouth is an hour south of Boston, 30 minutes from Cape Cod and 10 minutes from the beach.
School Size: Smaller
UMass Dartmouth’s 8,000-student campus on 710 acres has the intimate feel of a small liberal arts college.
First-Year Housing: On or Off Campus
UMass Dartmouth first years can choose to live in dedicated first-year residence halls on or off campus.
Athletics: NCAA Division 3 and intramural
UMass Dartmouth has 23 Division III programs and intramural leagues.
Testing Reqs: SAT/ACT required
UMass Dartmouth has a no-test option available for three of its six colleges.
UMass Lowell
