UMass Law outperformed several area private schools in 2019 employment rates.

85% of UMass Law's 2019 graduates are employed or are pursuing graduate degrees, while over 80% secured employment in bar-required or JD-advantage positions.

61% of the class secured full-time, long-term employment in positions that required them to pass the bar exam. This surpasses three private law schools in Massachusetts with employment rates ranging from 51% to 58%.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling that protects the nation’s 800,000 Dreamers from immediate deportation is an important and welcome step. I want to especially thank UMass Immigration Counsel Sandra Torres for her work on this issue in collaboration with the office of Attorney General Maura Healey.

UMass Dartmouth recently announced that Dr. Paula Celeste Gomes Noversa was chosen as the new Director of the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture. The Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture, established in 1975, is a multidisciplinary international education and outreach organization dedicated to the study of the language, literature, and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world.

A data brief from the Public Policy Center at UMass Dartmouth (PPC) shows that the SouthCoast region is more reliant on essential frontline workers as compared to the rest of Massachusetts. These workers earn less on average than the workforce as a whole, and many are women with caregiver responsibilities in the home, according to the analysis.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) recently announced that UMass Dartmouth doctoral student Akira Harper was awarded a 2020 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. A STEM Education student, Harper’s selection as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow is a highly significant national accomplishment and places her amongst an elite group of fellows who have gone on to distinguished careers in STEM or STEM education.
