I think it's a new era at UMass Boston where only good things can happen.

It's great to have a world class chancellor in a world class city.

He can bring people together.

He is a world class academic leader, and is one of the pioneers of the field of Immigration Studies. I felt that this was the grand mission that was a culmination of his research, his leadership. He sees what he could do at UMass as really leaving a mark for generations of students to come.

I am very proud to recommend Marcelo Suárez-Orozco be appointed chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Boston.

I think that the responsibility of the chancellor is to tell and retell the story of the fundamental contributions of public research university. Make and we'll continue to make moving forward. In this unique city, the city of education, the city of immigration, our Athens.

I believe that Marcelo is the right person at the right time.

Everyone's going to be excited about having him as our next chancellor.
