UMass Law graduates succeed in employment

UMass Law outperformed several area private schools in 2019 employment rates.

85% of UMass Law's 2019 graduates are employed or are pursuing graduate degrees, while over 80% secured employment in bar-required or JD-advantage positions.

61% of the class secured full-time, long-term employment in positions that required them to pass the bar exam. This surpasses three private law schools in Massachusetts with employment rates ranging from 51% to 58%.

Over the past five years, UMass Law has graduated the highest percentage of public service lawyers among all law schools in New England. Between 2014-2019, 27% of UMass Law graduates secured positions in government or with public interest organizations.

“We are excited to see our law students outperforming many of their private law school peers while also delivering thousands of hours of pro bono legal services to organizations and individuals across the region,” Chancellor Johnson said.
