UMass Amherst Political Economy Research Institute to co-host online "Prospects for Peace and Justice in Israel and Palestine" panel

Event on Dec. 9 to include U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, Noam Chomsky and James Zogby, founder and president of the Arab American Institute
AMHERST, Mass. – The Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, along with the Boston Review and Standing Together – one of the largest grassroots people’s movements in Israel working to bring together Jews and Arabs – will present “Prospects for Peace and Justice in Israel and Palestine,” an online panel discussion at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9.
Participating in the discussion will be:
- U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, who represents Massachusetts’ 2nd Congressional District
- Noam Chomsky, a celebrated educator and linguist who joined the University of Arizona in 2017 after several decades at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- Alon-lee Green, a founding member and acting national co-director of Standing Together
- Sally Abed, a member of the elected national leadership and acting resource development and relations coordinator at Standing Together
- James Zogby, founder and president of the Arab American Institute (AAI), a Washington, D.C.-based organization that serves as the political and policy research arm of the Arab American community
- Omar Dahi, a research associate with PERI and associate professor of economics at Hampshire College, will moderate the discussion.
