From its earliest days, the University of Massachusetts has been driven by the belief that knowledge should be shared with its students and with the world. One of UMass Amherst first professors is credited with the epic achievement of transforming farming into a modern science. More than a century and a half later, we still believe that innovation is a key to a better tomorrow.

They are exploring the universe, expanding the boundaries of science to prevent and cure diseases, creating energy out of thin air.
