I think a UMass student who works hard can compete with anybody that goes to any elite university anywhere in the country or beyond.
I figured that after two years at UMass, I had enough engineering skills to sign up for this job. That was for a master's student and I interviewed. I got the job right then and there and just showing that, hey, I've learned all these things my first two years at UMass, I can now go and achieve whatever objective over these next six months if UMass didn't exist.
Many of the biggest, most innovative companies in the country wouldn't have the quality of workforce that they have now. My education and my experience has got me the same place as students from Ivy League schools, and we're doing the same of work. The academic excellence comes from the professors. If the professors shows you that they believe in you, you start to believe in yourself.
You know, we interview a lot of kids and we see a lot of different schools. Boston's obviously got a ton of them. So we do see the difference with a UMass education. Everyone has this similar motif of being hardworking to not just and audacious and really going out to get what they want. UMass has an incredible job, really foster that that grit and determination, and has given me the ability, I would say, to compete with students from any university in the country.
You're going into class, you're meeting professors that are so excited to see you and to teach you. Working hard doesn't feel as hard when you're enjoying it. The foundation really comes from a world class college experience. That's what the university did for me. That's what I wanted to do for everyone else.
