UMass Boston women's soccer wins regular season conference title; no. 1 seed in tournament

UMass Boston’s women’s soccer team won their first Little East Conference regular season title since 2014 over the weekend, and now they have the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament that begins this week. The No. 1 Beacons will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 4 Eastern Connecticut State University and No. 5 Plymouth State University on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The team clinched the No. 1 seed on Saturday, after a 0-0 tie against Western Connecticut State University. Both teams ended up with a 7-0-1 record in the conference, but UMass Boston had the better overall record of 17-2-1 (compared to 13-5-2).

This is the third time the Beacons have been the No. 1 seed in the LEC Tournament. The Beacons won the tournament in 2012.

Men’s Soccer Begins LEC Tournament Play on Tuesday

UMass Boston’s men’s soccer team has the No. 5 seed in the LEC Tournament. The Beacons will travel to No. 4 Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday for the tournament quarterfinals. The game starts at 7 p.m.

These two teams played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday. The Beacons ended the regular season with a 12-3-3 record, 4-2-2 in the conference.

Volleyball Wins Final Match of Season; Tournament Play Starts on Tuesday

UMass Boston’s volleyball team will also be in post-season action on Tuesday. The No. 5 Beacons will take on No. 4 Keene State College at Keene State at 7 p.m. With Saturday’s win over non-conference opponent Brandeis University, the Beacons ended up with a 9-18 overall record, 5-3 in the conference.
