UMass Amherst Chancellor Search Committee Moves Two Finalists Forward

Candidates will visit campus soon

Following a comprehensive screening process that was launched on July 15, 2022, the UMass Amherst Chancellor Search Committee voted unanimously today to forward the following finalists for the position to UMass President Marty Meehan and the UMass Board of Trustees for their consideration:

Javier Reyes
Interim Chancellor
University of Illinois Chicago

Paul Tikalsky
Dean, The College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology
Oklahoma State University

Each candidate will visit the UMass Amherst campus in the coming weeks to meet with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.

“The search committee’s task has been clear: identify outstanding candidates to lead UMass Amherst, a world-class university that is a catalyst for the socio-economic development of the Commonwealth, and an engine of opportunity for generations of individuals,” said Search Committee Chair Victor Woolridge, a 1980 graduate of UMass Amherst. “We have met that challenge thanks to the stellar service of our committee members and the feedback received from the UMass Amherst community during listening sessions.”
