'Our time together at UMass was truly special…'

Liz Possee, UMass Amherst ’14 and Curtis Corthell, UMass Amherst ‘12

"Curtis and I met while we were both working on a production of “Cabaret” for the UMass Theatre Guild. I was working as the scenic and costume designer for the production, and he was working as the light board operator though the Fine Arts Center.

We fell in love shortly after. I watched him graduate in 2012, and he watched me graduate in 2014, both of us from the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. He was an Anthro major, and I was Environmental Design.

Our time together at UMass was truly special, and we hold Western Massachusetts near and dear to our hearts — so much so that after we got engaged this summer at Cinderella's Castle in Walt Disney World, we decided to return to Western Mass. for our wedding day.

This upcoming Columbus Day weekend, when the leaves will be in their peak autumn beauty, we will be getting married on the Smith College campus, right down the street from where we had our first date: Fitzwilly's. I'm sure that weekend we will set aside a little time to explore The Hill, where both of us lived during our freshmen and sophomore years."
