UMass nursing programs named best in New England

All five UMass campuses were ranked among the Top 50 nursing programs in New England

All five UMass campuses were named among the Top 50 best nursing programs in New England, with UMass Medical winning the top spot as the very best in the region, according to Nursing Schools Almanac, an online resource for aspiring nurses. The research team at the company recently published its inaugural rankings naming the best public and private nursing programs in the nation and the regions. 

Among the Top 50 in New England nursing programs, UMass Lowell ranked No. 16; UMass Amherst, No. 17; UMass Boston , No. 28 and UMass Dartmouth, No. 29. 

UMass Medical School ranked No. 18 of the Top 100 nursing programs in the nation.

The Nursing Schools Almanac based the rankings on data collected from more than 3,200 private and public nursing programs and evaluated the programs on the basis of academic prestige and perceived value, the breadth and depth of programs offered, and student success. The team honed in on aspects such as the graduates’ ability to repay their student debt in a timely manner as well student performance on nursing exams. 

The nursing programs at UMass Medical and UMass Lowell also ranked among the Top 75 nursing programs at public institutions in the United States.  That survey of about 1900 programs included community and technical colleges, four-year colleges, and universities.
