Chancellor Michael F. Collins was named one of the 50 most powerful people in the Central Massachusetts business community by the Worcester Business Journal.
"When we seek to create this list every year, we focus on the people who use their positions to have an outsized influence on the business community," said Editor Brad Kane.
Chancellor Collins was recognized for the growth that UMass Medical School has seen under his management.
"UMass Medical School is a major endeavor, and Collins has led the school as chancellor for 11 years now," according to the Worcester Business Journal. "UMass Medical School has expanded locally and far beyond, from opening the Albert Sherman Center in Worcester and the purchase of the UMass Medicine Science Park to the MassBiologics SouthCoast facility in Fall River and partnerships abroad, including in China and Ireland."
