Beacons Baseball Team Practices in New Monan Park for the First Time

  • Boston

UMass Boston's baseball team practiced at the new J. Donald Monan, SJ Park for the first time on Monday. Monan Park is located adjacent to the UMass Boston campus, at Boston College High School.

The result of a public-private partnership, Monan Park is a shared baseball complex that features a replica Green Monster and a 500-seat field with the same dimensions as Fenway Park. The fencing on the monster wall still needs to be finished, as well as electrical work.

Head coach Brendan Eygabroat works with junior transfer Chris Fowler in front of the to-be-finished monster wall.

The Beacons previously played home games at Campinelli Stadium in Brockton, and Yetten Field in Waltham.

UMass Boston's first scheduled home game is Saturday, March 5 against Lasell College. The Beacons will then go to Florida for an annual spring break trip to play in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

There's a lot to look forward to this season—the Collegiate Baseball Newspaperhas put sophomore Josh Lopez of Lowell and juniors Daniel Mantoni of Northbridge and Anthony Searles of Shelton, Connecticut on its NCAA Division III Players to Watch list.
