UMass Performance - Accountable and On the Move
As the University of Massachusetts celebrates its 150th anniversary, we want you to know all of the ways in which Massachusetts has built a public research university system that is a source of great pride for its graduates and citizens of the Commonwealth. Enrollments and student profiles are at an all-time high; increasing numbers of faculty and students are receiving prestigious national and international awards; research expenditures are fast-approaching $600 million; all of our campuses carry the Carnegie Classification of Community Engagement. In short, the University of Massachusetts continues to strive to carry out its mission to provide an affordable and accessible education of high quality and to conduct programs of research and public service that advance knowledge and improve the lives of the people of the Commonwealth, the nation and the world.

In an effort to shine a brighter light on what we are doing - and how we are doing - we have created an accountability report called "UMass Performance: Accountable and On The Move" around six key themes that measure 21 key indicators of success:
  • Student Experience & Success
  • Producing an Educated and Engaged Citizenry
  • World Class Research & Development Enterprise
  • Enhancing Social Well Being
  • Good Stewards of Resources
  • Telling and Selling the UMass Story
This accountability tool builds on data from our well-established "Performance Measurement System," which we have collected and made available to the public for 15 years. But this new report is meant to establish key priority areas, to delineate how progress is going to be measured, and to provide the results in a way that will be clear and convenient to all.
UMass Performance
The 2013 document offers our pledge to establish and measure key priority areas. In 2014, we will assess our progress in these areas.
