Weather, Radars, and Energy in a Changing WorldDates: June 30th - July 3rdLocation: UMass Amherst Campus Apply by: June 20th The Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere (CASA) Content Institute (CI) "Weather, Radars, and Energy in a Changing World" will be held June 30th - July 3rd on the campus of the University of Massachusetts. The CI is designed to enable 6th - 12th grade science teachers to deepen their knowledge of concepts and develop hands-on classroom activities with respect to the Engineering, Technology and Earth and Space science curriculum frameworks. The content is interdisciplinary with a focus on socially relevant science and engineering topics that are appealing to young people, such as weather prediction and forecasting using new technologies as well as renewable energy and climate change. Teachers will have the chance to collaborate with university faculty as well as other teachers from Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, and Colorado. A one-day callback in November will allow teachers to present projects that they develop and implement in their classrooms. Space is available for 8 to 9 teachers from Massachusetts and surrounding states. Participants will receive a $500 stipend plus reimbursement for travel costs. PDP's will be available at no cost.
