Hampshire Educational Collaborative is working with the Massachusetts Department of Education to introduce HeyMath! to local math teachers. HEC will offer free two-day seminars in June and August to provide teachers with an opportunity to gain experience working with this exciting program.

Presenter Damon Douglas will blend instruction, experimentation,  planning, and practice with HeyMath! materials with an eye toward:

  • enhancing standards-based classroom lessons and instruction
  • introducing real-world applications and multiple forms of assessment
  • strengthening teachers' math content knowledge

Participants will create and implement at least two standards-based lessons that make use of HeyMath! material. The lessons, including a reflection on the efficacy of implementation, will be posted on-line through the HeyMath! website.

How HeyMath! Works

The HeyMath! E-learning program is designed to benefit both students and teachers in Grades 5-12. Teachers go on-line to access a high quality curriculum that is mapped to state standards and used by some of the world's highest performing school systems. The program incorporates state of the art Flash animation that creates innovative, interactive lessons, peppered with animation, graphics, real life problems and quizzes that are designed to help dispel the fear of math, improve student motivation, and lead to better results.
