For Larry Wood, a toy car designer for Mattel's Hot Wheels, understanding fractions, measurement and scale are essential to making his miniature replications of the real thing.  In the movie, he explains, "Hot Wheels are 1/64 scale.  I measure the real cars, getting hundreds of dimensions.  Line up 64 Hot Wheels and they'll be the length of the real car."
