Dear Friends,

As a Trustee and as a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, it is my honor to Chair the University of Massachusetts Presidential Search Committee.

The selection of a new President is critical step in any university's history, as a President articulates a vision, sets a tone, provides leadership and brings an institution forward. This is a particularly important moment, as our Commonwealth and nation face challenges - challenges that this University can and will help to address, and address more fully with astute and inspired leadership.
The University of Massachusetts Presidential Search Committee consists of representatives of the University's relevant constituency groups and is reflective of the University and the Commonwealth that it seeks to serve. Our goal is to identify outstanding finalist candidates, any one of whom could be a strong and effective new leader for our University.

This Committee will conduct a diligent, wide-ranging search and is confident that this process will lead to a highly successful outcome.

We encourage participation in the process and ask interested parties inside and outside of the University to lend their voices to this process, by means that could include employing the communications avenues established on this web site or by attending the public meetings that will be held in the upcoming weeks and months.
