Welcome to the University of Massachusetts!

For more than 145 years, the University of Massachusetts has been providing high quality educational opportunities for Massachusetts residents and for students and faculty from all over the world.

Our 12,600 annual graduates enrich the Commonwealth, our industries, and society. The nearly 66,000 students we educate each year are predominantly drawn from the region and remain here after graduation. More than 242,000 UMass alumni live in Massachusetts, forming the foundation of the state's workforce and contributing enormously to our knowledge-based economy.

With more than $489 million in annual research funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, our corporate partners, and other Federal and Private Foundations, the University of Massachusetts is one of the three largest research universities in the Commonwealth and has been rated as one of the top Universities in the world. Our five campuses serve every region of the state, making UMass the engine for economic and social development across Massachusetts.

Our commitment to meet our student's demonstrated financial need means that no student is denied access to a high quality university education.

The University is entering a growth period. We're investing in increased student financial aid, new faculty and new facilities. We're building new laboratories, classrooms, and dormitories. At the same time, the number of applicants is rising annually at each of our campuses.
