UMass Amherst- Top German Research Universities Named

Decisions on the Initiative for Excellence among German research universities were announced today.

Four of the University of Massachusetts' Baden-Wuerttemberg partner universities have been judged to be among the top nine universities in Germany: Freiburg, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, and Ulm. In addition, the UMass Baden-Wuerttemberg partner universities of Mannheim, Stuttgart, Tuebingen and Ulm were among the German research universities receiving awards for excellence in specific graduate research institutes and clusters of excellence.

The state of Baden-Wuerttemberg had more of its research universities listed in the various excellence categories than any of the other fifteen German states.
