Strategic Initiatives
The UITS organization supports the University and five campuses in various University strategic initiatives. As we work towards our strategic goals we know that our success is achieved through the strong collaborative efforts of individuals across all five campuses and the President's Office.
The following are examples of key initiatives that UITS is engaged in:
- Identity Management
- Business Intelligence
Identity Management The goal of the current Identity Management (IdM) initiative is to provide end-to-end management of data associated with employees, students, and associates of the University, and the management of an identity's access to network resources. IdM is also about enabling seamless and secure collaboration anywhere within the University, and, in the larger picture, collaboration between the University and other higher education institutions, industry, and government agencies.
Business Intelligence Over the past several years, the University has made substantial investments in its fundamental business and transactional systems. Users at all levels, however, have expressed the view that they need better and timelier information in order to understand their business domains more fully and to foster better and more informed decision-making. In response, UITS engaged a third-party consulting firm, which visited the five campuses and the President's Office to better understand the informational needs of various constituencies. This engagement led to the development of a business intelligence roadmap and the commissioning of an initiative to develop a business intelligence service for the University.
