UMass Amherst- Speaker to discuss global water crisis

Ken Conca of the University of Maryland will speak on "Governing Water: Understanding the Global Water Crisis" on Monday, Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m. in the Cape Cod Lounge of the Student Union.

The second lecture in the Water Sustainability Lecture Series hosted by the Environmental Institute, Conca's talk will focus on finding effective ways to resolve water-related conflicts and improve global water governance. Some of the most important conflicts in global water resource management include addressing the unmet water needs of the world's poor, protecting critical freshwater ecosystems, and finding more efficient and impartial mechanisms for allocating water as a scarce resource.
