Cathey knighted by Finnish government

Professor James Cathey of German and Scandinavian Studies was recently decorated by the government of Finland as a Knight, First Class of the Order of the White Rose, in recognition of his longtime efforts to promote Finnish language, history and culture.
The award, which includes a medal and a diploma, was formally presented March 26 by Osmo Lipponen, the Finnish consul general in New York, during a luncheon at Hillside, the chancellor's residence.
