UMass Boston- Workshop provides look at local government

They had never met a lobbyist before. Or a female judge. Or a state lawmaker. But last week, nine women from Iran met with Senate President Therese Murray at the State House, lunched with Massachusetts judges, and received training from lobbyist Judy Meredith. The meetings, part of a six-day workshop organized by the University of Massachusetts Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy in Boston, gave the Iranian women a look at how local governments work in America and offered some tips to help them improve their society.
