UMass Amherst- Gordon addresses international conference in UKHistory professor Daniel Gordon delivered a paper at an international conference held July 1-3 at the University of Cambridge, England. The conference was on the growth of anti-slavery and anti-colonialism in late 18th century Europe. Titled "Colonial Writing, Cultural Exchange and Social Networks in the Age of the Enlightenment," the conference particularly explored the work of Guillaume-Thomas Raynal, whose "History of the East and West Indies" was the best-selling work of the late 18th century.
