UMass Boston- Workshop on Rebuilding Haiti Points to Sustainable New Directions
Nearly four months after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti, an international workshop at the University of Massachusetts Boston focused on rebuilding sustainable communities in Haiti yielded rich discussion that identified both obstacles and solutions. Titled "After the Cameras have Gone: Rebuilding Sustainable Communities in Haiti after the January Earthquake," the workshop drew nearly 150 participants from several countries and U.S. cities: researchers, development practitioners from non-governmental and charitable organizations, students, and a broad range of Haitian community members, from architects to restaurateurs, who wanted to contribute and learn how to best assist in rebuilding their nation.
