UMass Boston- Fulbright Scholars Conference - Universities as Agents for Social Change

On April 15, 2010, UMB co-hosted a half-day Fulbright Scholars Conference in collaboration with U.S. Department of State - Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Northeastern University, and Wellesley College, inviting 50 international Fulbright Scholars who are currently in U.S. higher education institutions as visiting scholars and 28 UMB faculty who were previous Fulbright Scholars. Due to the university' strength in research-based community engagement for social change in the community, for the community, and with the community, UMB was selected to be a co-hosting institution for this particular event. The program stated with Chancellor Dr. J. Keith Motley's welcoming remarks. Facilitated by John Ciccarelli, Associate Vice Chancellor, Associate Provosts Dr. Eunsook Hyun, and Dr. Rajini Srikanth, the Dean of College of Nursing and Health Science (CNHS) Greer Glazer, who was a Fullbright Scholar in Israel, presented CNHS' show case of global and urban community engagements. In addition, Dr. Celia Moor, Professor of Psychology & Director of the Developmental Science Center highlighted the the work of the Horizon Center in-/for-/with the community. With the Provost Dr. Winston Langly's closing remarks the event ended with  UMB's new emerging identity, internationally known global-urban university as an agent for social change.
