UMass is committed to providing affordable pathways to the transformative opportunities that higher education provides. That’s why we’re proud to partner with community colleges in the state through memorandums of understanding, articulation agreements and reverse transfer agreements.
One such pathway is the Commonwealth Commitment, an innovative college affordability and completion plan established in April 2016. Students who meet the program requirements will be able to save an average of $5,090 on the cost of a bachelor’s degree. Not only will students graduate with less debt — they’ll enter the workforce confident that their education has equipped them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world. The Commonwealth Commitment is the first program of its kind in the nation.
Community college partnerships directly align with our mission to provide high-quality, affordable educational opportunities that change lives and build a better future for Massachusetts and its citizens, and we are proud to be a leader in such partnerships. In fact, 34% of current UMass undergraduates are community college transfer students, reflecting our commitment to making higher education accessible to all.
