The University has initiated a Business Intelligence Program called Summit to meet the increasingly complex demands of information accessibility and presentation and to support the translation of raw and disparate data into information that is strategically useful to the enterprise.   The Summit Program will implement improved reporting capability and access to information through a series of smaller projects, rolling out capability incrementally.

In 2006, Bearing Point delivered a Business Intelligence Architecture and Implementation Roadmap to UMass that stressed the need for the University to invest in a Business Intelligence toolset and architecture, establish a governance model and develop a team capable of executing to the plan.
